Emmerich, Germany, May 17, 2024: Ecologically compatible, socially fair and economically efficient: these are the overarching goals of the sustainability strategy of PROBAT, the global market and technology leader for roasting machines and systems. For the first time, the owner-managed family business is voluntarily publishing a sustainability report for the year 2022, thus raising its commitment to a sustainable society to a new level in all areas.
The basis and starting point for the PROBAT sustainability report 2022 is a comprehensive sustainability strategy, which was also implemented in the year under review and contains clearly defined goals and concepts on the way to sustainable corporate management.
The first PROBAT sustainability report describes the impact of the company's activities at the Emmerich site on the environment, society, and the economy. It serves as both a status report and a roadmap for achieving the goals set out in the sustainability strategy. Measures that have already been taken to counteract negative effects are also considered in the report. This enables all stakeholders to directly compare the progress made with future assessments and to recognize development potential in the individual areas.
In addition to transparent and ethical business practices and active participation in shaping a socially responsible society, PROBAT's sustainability strategy focuses on implementing an ambitious climate action plan with the aim of reducing its own CO2 emissions to net zero by 2030.
We believe that what we create today will be passed on to future generations: The underlying guiding principle is to operate in a sustainable manner, helping to ensure that the needs of all stakeholders are met without jeopardizing the livelihoods of future generations.
"As a driving force in the coffee industry, we have always seen it as our duty to lead the way with forward-looking decisions that create long-term benefits for our company, our stakeholders and the entire sector," says PROBAT CEO Wim Abbing, explaining the special strategic prioritization of sustainability-related topics. "In 2022, these include the establishment of our climate action plan, and particularly the opening of our new production facility, with which we have set an international benchmark in our core markets and sent a clear signal in favour of Emmerich as a business location. At the same time, we have worked intensively on the further development of high-performance technologies to promote fossil-free roasting processes and to optimize the potential for reducing emissions and saving energy, especially for our customers," he concludes, summarizing the milestones achieved in the year under review.
In the future, PROBAT will extend its sustainability reporting to all the national and international locations of the Group.
