The story of Cabrales began back in 1941, when Don Antonio Cabrales Vega – the grandfather of the current head of the company – opened his first coffee shop. Today, Cabrales is one of Argentina‘s leading coffee producers.
In 2022, the production capacity at the plant in Mar del Plata in the province of Buenos Aires was expanded by 30%. The clear requirement for this major project was to maintain the high quality standard. And the project team did not have to travel far to find the right supplier for this challenging task: Leogap‘s headquarters and production facilities are located in Curitiba, Brazil, a little further north on the South American continent. PROBAT‘s subsidiary is a provider of highly advanced and pioneering roasting technologies such as the PROMUNDO drum roaster, which is one of the most flexible roasters in terms of recipe development for the most demanding flavor profiles.
“The PROMUNDO enables us to meet even the most demanding roasting and specialty coffee requirements of our various consumer segments. Due to the increased energy saving potential, this roaster also represents a very important step for us towards a more sustainable process design“, explains Manuel Cabrales, CEO of the company, the decision for this roaster from the Leogap portfolio.
In order to achieve the extended production target, Cabrales opted for a PROMUNDO 2000 with a roasting capacity of 2 tons per hour. And because the roaster is equipped with the latest control solution, which guarantees maximum reproducibility, the company will also be able to meet the high customer demands for quality and taste in the future.
